Newport to Martinique
A long and rough sail down, from the cold to the paradise. Everybody told me : Leave Newport before October 20’th..otherwise it could be extremely rough. I was late, as always ;) and left Newport around the 8’th of November. The weather was okay, large weather systems have been around, so we were sailing mostly in 22 to 45 knots of wind. For more then 2000 nautical miles we needed 10 days. Daily runs from 200 and more miles became normal. Whenn we were crossing a former hurricane, things became a bit nasty...the wind was okay (althoug strong) but freaking big waves from around 115 degrees were shaking Lifgun around like hell. Every couple of hours she got totally flooded from breaking waves. I never was so happy no have this fixes doger then now. But finally we were reaching the traders and things became more comfortable.....
